When you start recording for the first time it’s unbelievably daunting. The learning curve can seem impassable at times, but like anything else, if you start with the basics everything will eventually make sense. Your success will hinge off of your patience and determination! It took me almost 7 to 8 years to really nail it down! Don’t let that discourage you though because when I started we didn’t have nearly the access to information like we do now!
Another thing to think about is this; what do you want to do with your knowledge? Let’s say you finally have it figured out. You’re recording professional level mixes, everything has finally come to fruition. Do you want to make money with your new skill? Do you want to record bands? Or how about getting into business and using your knowledge to create audio commercials for local advertising? I can tell you this…your future is bright but you have to get out and HUSTLE!
This is one of the main reasons I learned video production….to bridge the gap with audio AND video! By learning both skills I am now able to create professional advertisements for local and national businesses! I also specialize in Real Estate, a very profitable, and in-demand market. You can easily do the same, just remember that your clients aren’t primarily buying your productions skills…they are buying YOU!
Pro Tip: If you can produce professional audio/video and understand social media marketing….as well as wordpress you are golden!
I will talk more in-depth about what clients you can target locally that will make you serious cash in another post. For now, let’s just stick to the basics of audio recoring. You need to learn to crawl, walk, and run before you start doing this as a side hustle, then possibly a full time business.
